Alphacool Custom Liquid Cooling Loop Overview

We have always been a fan of liquid-cooled systems here at ThinkComputers, but it has been a while since we looked at anything beyond AIO coolers. So we decided to give our friends at Alphacool a call to see if they wouldn't mind helping us put together a full custom loop. They responded generously, and as you will see in the video, we ended up with a pretty great setup.

The Ultimate RGB Build

So if you missed it we've been planning a "Ultimate RGB Build" for a while now. In our last article we went over all of the parts we planned on using in the build, and how we were going to use them. Fast-forward to now and we've completed the build and I have to say it looks pretty awesome! This is actually the first time we've done a themed build and it is great to see if come from idea to a full working PC right in front of us! In this article we will be going over the build, how it turned out, and some tips if you want to do a similar build.

The Ultimate RGB Build: The Hardware

So I've been using the same PC as my main gaming / video editing rig for what seems like forever. When I built it not much thought really went into it, it was just available parts that I had laying around. The system itself has a Core i7-3970X, ASRock X79 Extreme4-M motherboard, 16GB of DDR3, a GTX 580, which was updated to a GTX 1080 recently, and a few SSDs. All of this was inside the Thermaltake Supressor F31 case, not really much to look at when you walk into the office. To this day that PC still kicks ass and in most cases is more than sufficient, but now that we are doing a lot of 4K video editing I felt it was time for an upgrade. Also we wanted to build something that looked totally badass! That is when the idea for the Ultimate RGB Build was hatched. We've said 2017 is the year of RGB so why not build a system with all RGB components? So we've compiled a list of awesome components and are ready to get this build started! This is part 1 of the build where we will go over the hardware used and why we selected it. Let us know in the comments what you think of our choices.

Intel Introduces Kabylake-X, Skaylake-X, and X299

We've been hearing about Intel's Kabylake-X, Skylake-X, and X299 platform for quite a while now. I don't think a week has gone by in the past month where we've haven't talked about it. Now we have official confirmation on all of the details! Intel says the new platform is their "most scalable", meaning that it will have CPUs with a little as four cores and all the way up to 18 cores, yes 18 cores!
